Exam cheating is the illegal act of using unauthorised ways to acquire undeserved marks or grades in a test.

Students cite cheating for fear of failure, desire for a better grade, pressure from others to succeed in school, low self-efficacy or even competition from their peers.

A Facebook user and cyber café owner has revealed shocking information of how secondary school students are altering their results slips to fool parents of their exemplary performance in school.

The user who posted the information on the Savings Challenge Group on Facebook, pointed out that students have been thronging his cyber cafe to change their grades on their results slips.

“I have been getting a number of requests from students at my cyber cafe to change their grades on the results slips. The rate at which the requests are increasing is alarming.

"Of course as a teacher/parent I tell them we don’t do that, I have also cautioned my employees to never ever do any forging. But my worry is they will still get somebody somewhere in another cyber to do it for them,” the post read.

The cyber owner further asked parents to liaise with school administrations to verify results of their children.

“Parents should make frequent visits to schools to check on their children’s progress.”

The revelation sent Facebook into a frenzy sparking emotions among users.

Comments: Shock and anger

Joel Wambua: So sad that a student is motivated to be dishonest rather than honestly seeking for help from the parent. Where are we heading to?????

Cherotich Carren Kiki: This is how they start then become big time NYS thieves!Time schools emailed parents/guardian the report card/form directly.

Waruhiu Neyome: The question I have is one, why does a child feel the need to change grades.? Because he has to impress me?because he is learning for me?  The day u make that child know his mental health is more important than his grades is the day he will start working hard for his good

Mwesh Jano Dodi: Most probably the parents did that too..its karma.lol..anyway KCSE is coming...how will they explain the gap? In my child's school the class teachers send softcopies thru WhatsApp.then the hard copies are returned to the headteachers after we sign..when schools close..

Kenyan confess they changed their school grades

Nafula Nafula: That's what exactly my brother did , I was at school some few days to the closing and the class teacher told me he had performed poorly. On reaching home he had a B+ yet the best he has ever got is C+, on calling at school he had a D+. Hi holiday ako kuuguza tu majeraha. He will never try it again.

Don Alex Maina: This one i used to do it to avoid doing supplementary during the holiday. Kuna time nilipata 16\50 kwa hesabu nikaforge ikakuwa ati 46/50, my dad made a surprise visit to school na hapo ndio nilijua sijui!!

Winnie Trinny: Lol my bro was a pro...he had 74% in Maths only for my dad during open day to find out he had 4% and he never attended any maths class????????.. he was somehow got caught eventually...it's a miracle he turned out great anyway ????....hope he's not seeing this...it's very important for parents to encourage their kids to work hard in school but not threaten them like this is a matter of life and death...that they feel they need to do this..

Mdawida Mwakisha: I remember my early hustles as a cyber attendant in Mombasa, hapo pembe za ndovu..i did that..not exactly proud of it but it was hell alot of money to let go

Wambui Maina: Heri hao wanachange grades. Where I work they don't take report cards home. "Hawafanyangi exam"

Rozey Maryah: Honestly i used to change mine but na biro ofkos..them days... so y would i not expect to see the same in my dota???? but i always tell them its their life mtu aki ruin ataji blame yeye mwenyewe niskie bla bla..ndo mtajua leo ni friday n ni end month????????????

How some schools use technology

Salley Anabelle: My sister study at St Francis girls Mang'u. The school usually sms the parents their children grades before the students even receive them such that parent knows how their children are doing right from first cat to end of term exams. I thought that's is a good strategy that other schools should adapt

Vanessa Kwamboka: The schools should adopt modern technology and send parents report forms via email.

Christine Magayi: Thanks to the principle and teachers at ogande girls results are sent via SMS ,,,,an alert message reminder before the girls leave school,,,,,

Laura Khalumi Gee: My girl's results & assignments get to us via email before she gets home. Schools need to be innovative, knowing the calibre of students they deal with. On the other hand, parents should make a point of verifying results with class teachers.

Mweru Mathia: I teach in a day school and we never give report forms to students. The parent must come to school to collect the report form at a stipulated time and day depending on the class during which the parents are briefed on the students academic progress and discipline. But i guess that only works because its a day school coz the parents attend in large numbers.

Sheila Kipesa: Technology has done as good we receive our kids results online before they come with the hardcopy
