President William Ruto on Monday, May, 1 held a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding the situation in Sudan hours after protagonists in the conflict agreed to ceasing fire.
The two leaders agreed on a three-pronged approach in seeking solutions to the crisis.
"I am grateful to the US and Saudi Arabia for engaging the protagonists in the Sudan conflict, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who have now agreed to a ceasefire," Ruto said in a statement.
At the same time, Ruto has stated that Kenya will work closely with United Nation agencies and other organisations to coordinate, scale up and deliver humanitarian assistance to suffering Sudanese citizens. He expressed his optimism that the ceasefire will guarantee the assistance happens smoothly.
Ruto also met former Sudan Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok and discussed the peace situation urging the locals to contribute in the conflict resolution.
