Religious leaders on Saturday called on the government to tighten the rope on the fight against corruption.
Speaking during the Kilifi County Dialogue Conference, the leaders said the country will sink into hard times if corruption is not contained and urged politicians to stop politicising the war on graft.
Bishop Lawrence Dena from the National Council of Churches of Kenya Kilifi branch said corruption derailed development.
“The procurement processes in Kilifi have remained questionable and this is maintained by our MCAs who are abandoning their oversight roles to chase tenders, making them vulnerable to manipulation by the Executive,” said Mr Dena.
He added: It is disheartening that we continue to borrow billions from outside, yet there is hardly any successfully completed development project.
