A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on Saturday, March 31 asked deported lawyer Miguna Miguna to quit accusing National Super Alliance (NASA) Coalition principal Raila Odinga of abandonment. The leaders cautioned Miguna, National Resistance Movement’s self-made general against lashing out to Raila over his second deportation.

Miguna Miguna had earlier sent a statement from Dubai saying that Raila should not continue hanging out with the government which is allegedly responsible for his predicaments.

“Raila Odinga cannot and should not be enjoying Easter abroad and dining with the tyrants when the person who swore him in as the people’s president is being murdered by those who stole his election and who have killed and maimed his supporters,” part of his statement read.

However, according to ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, Secretary of Political Affairs Opiyo Wandayi, MPs Samuel Atandi (Alego/Usonga), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) and Homa Bay politician and businessman Hilary Alila, Raila has tried his best to try and bring the fiery lawyer back. They warned Miguna that although they are on his side, fighting for his return, an attack on Raila would provoke them to return fire.

“We have documented all the efforts Jakom (Mr Odinga) has put in to help Miguna. Mzee has instructed all his lawyers, including myself, to work on the case at great peril. The team led by Siaya Senator James Orengo have been on this matter since he was arrested in February,” Sifuna said.

Mr Wandayi sought to remind Miguna Miguna that he and Raila operate on different lanes.

“Raila Odinga as an institution is a no-go zone for him to spew vitriol. He and Raila don't play in the same league. As far as we're concerned, the moment he starts showing open disrespect for Raila, he crosses the red line,” Wandayi warned.

Miguna was first arrested and deported to Canada following his participation in the swearing-in of Raila as the peoples’ president on January 30.
