A boy who was displaced from their home in Mukutani, Baringo County, over insecurity early this year performed well in KCSE examination.
Lekwaro Lesianoi Peter, who scored a B of 63 points, touched off jubilation in Kiserian village where his family settled after it fled from Mukutanii in March this year.
“The situation was hard. We did not expect that he would perform this well after he lost his friends during banditry attacks,” said Nehemiah Okwaro, his brother.
According to Peter, who was a candidate at Emining Secondary School, the hardship his family went through gave him the motivation to work hard in school and attain good grades.

He said despite losing his friends and all their wealth during the attacks, he remained focused and managed to get the good grades.
Peter said support from his family members and teachers made it possible for him to complete his education.
His father Steven Lekwaro ensured Peter continued with his studies even after being displaced.
“I lost all my wealth to the bandits. I was forced to cultivate and sell farm produce to pay his fees. This was also a challenge because this place is dry with no rain,” said the proud father.
He congratulated his son for overcoming all challenges to attain good grades.
The candidate who scored 330 marks in his KCPE education pointed out that he wanted to do medicine with an aim of providing medical services to the people of Baringo.
“Medicine and hospitals have been a nightmare for the people of Baringo. I saw my friends die because there was no doctor to attend to them when they were attacked by bandits. I want to be able to provide those services to the people who need them,” said Peter.
The family has appealed to well-wishers to help Peter realise his dream of pursuing higher education.
