Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has reiterated the stance on why he joined Opposition pact NASA clearly stating that he is not interested in becoming its flag bearer.

This follows an earlier announcement from his party Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) that they had officially joined the National Super Alliance thus making Ruto the fifth principal on the virtue of party leader but speaking during an interview Wednesday night, he said that he is not aiming for the presidency.

"I have no intentions of running for the presidency this term but only to help with my ideas. I do not want to be the NASA flag bearer and I will support anyone who will be tasked with that role", he said.
Despite claiming almost half of the votes in an online poll conducted to determine his political strength, the Bomet Governor maintained that he would decline an offer to be NASA front man saying that he is content in his governorship although he did say that he is planning to vie for the top office come 2022.

"I am only focused on bringing development to marginalised areas. I am not in a hurry, I shall launch my presidential ambitions in 2022".

The former Council of Governors chairman accused the government of poor devolution policies adding that it has misplaced its priorities.
He said that instead of focusing on real-time economic growth, the government has given a lot of its attention to real estate and other projects that do not directly affect citizens in a positive way, dismissing assertions that the Kenyan economy had 5.8 per cent growth in 2016.

"The government must understand the common needs of its citizens, people are suffering everywhere but all we hear is investors and real estate. How does that solve the difficulties of the people who are struggling?" He questioned.

Mr Ruto strongly believes that he will retain his gubernatorial position and said that he does not fear being bundled out of his seat.
He also urged political leaders to shun tribal politics which are detrimental to the country's development saying that a person from any community can lead as long as they are in the right mind.
