According to research, each year fewer than seven people in every 100,000 experience something called "global transient amnesia".
It's a sudden – but temporary – bout of memory loss. It can be attributed to various neurological conditions, and brought on by a number of things, such as medical procedures, head injuries, jumping into cold water...
And vigorous sex. Yes, after a big time in the sheets, your memory can disappear. Mostly, it's only momentarily, but it can last up to hours.
During the episode of forgetfulness, the person cannot form new memories, or remember recent events.

Luckily, there aren't lasting effects at play. Although we can't help but wonder whether people who suffer the memory loss can indeed remember the amazing sex they've just had? We hope they remember once their brain functionality returns to normal.
We also don't quite know just how rigorous the sex needs to be in order to bring the temporary amnesia on. But the study explaining it simply says that the amnesia develops due to neurological stimulus of a repetitive nature . You know?
Sex can do all sorts – even just, you know, if it's fairly restrained.
As well as giving people temporary memory loss, sex can boost your memory skills too.
It can also be an anti-depressant, although, by contrast, if can also be a bit of a downer.
Sex can relieve pain, too, and has been proved to calm you down, and make you sleepy. Although you probably already knew that one.
