The KTN Facebook page has just hit the two-million mark. This is no mean feat as the page has the highest number of followers as a media publishing brand in Kenya and East Africa as a whole.
The success, of course, has come about as a result of hard work on the part of KTN and the team behind the Facebook page, whose work continues to inspire confidence to a growing number of people in the region.
But while being head and shoulders above competition across East Africa is reason enough to pop the champagne, we feel a lot more needs to be done to broaden readership and enable more citizens access information, a basic ingredient of all democracies.
For citizens to make the right choices at the ballot and in other areas of life, they need accurate and reliable information like that provided by KTN. But their access to information online is hampered by the high cost of accessing the internet and, of course, the cost of electronic devices such as computers and phones. These are issues that the Government needs to address.
