A group of clergy drawn from Machakos, Kitui and Makueni counties have strongly condemned the recent disrespectful utterances by a section of political leaders saying that the office of the President should be respected.
Gospel Confirmation Center (GCC) bishop Charles Kababu, who read the statement on behalf of the clergy during a press conference at a Machakos hotel stated that the recent utterances coming from the political divide in the country should be toned down as it may cause conflict just like the one that led to 2007/08 chaos.
In the statement, the clergy also told politicians to respect offices created by the constitution and stop throwing insults at such institutions like the Presidency adding that by disrespecting such offices will impact negatively on posterity.
They added that the Presidency is a symbol of unity and therefore ought to be respected by all Kenyans.
The team of clergy are scheduled to hold prayers for the leadership of the country at the historical Mulu Mutisya gardens in Machakos town.
