NYERI, KENYA: A case in which an alleged police imposter is charged with fraud failed to proceed in Nyeri on Tuesday as he was said to be admitted at Naivasha District Hospital.
Joshua Karianjahi Waiganjo's case could not take place as scheduled, because he is seriously sick and is admitted at hospital, the court was told.
When the case came up for hearing, the prosecution led by Superintendent Stancelous Mwangi told Nyeri chief magistrate Wilbrodah Juma that the case could not proceed.
This is after the accused fell sick, before being taken to Nyeri.

Waiganjo was admitted at hospital under tight security after his condition deteriorated, the magistrate heard.
Mwangi said the officer in charge of Naivasha maximum prison had written to the court saying he could not produce the accused in court as expected earlier.
“The said subject is undergoing treatment at the said hospital where he is admitted and we request the court to fix for another hearing date,” said in part of the letter.
Waiganjo has been charged that on diverse date between, April 6 and October 16, 2008 within Nyeri County he obtained Sh 50,000 by false pretence.
He is alleged to have presented himself as a senior superintendent of police attached to General service headquarters Nairobi to one Daniel Kago Gachanja .
It was alleged he told him he was in a position to recruit his son Humphrey Githenji to join the Administration police college.
He is also facing another four other different counts of obtaining money by false pretence.
The case will be mentioned on January 21,
