Nyeri, Kenya: A woman in a Nyeri neighbourhood is in anguish after she was forced to clean up several used condoms left behind by college students who last Saturday night held a party in her neighbour’s house.
The woman told the Press she felt so low after the Sunday morning discovery that she could not go to church after collecting and burning the gory find.
She said after enduring a long night of very loud music and screaming from the seemingly intoxicated students, she woke up to find some of her vegetables trampled on in a section next to a breach in the fence and on closer inspection found the items.
She said it was the second time the students were holding a bash in the house in three weeks and that Saturday’s occasion was much bigger than the last one.
The woman who lives in Pembe Tatu says her neighbour is a senior civil servant who has left his student relatives in the house while he is away on leave. A watchman in a neighbouring property said the party started early and the number of youths started to pick at around midnight. He said, “They were many. They were about 30.”

Saying he observed the goings-on from a balcony that overlooks the house, the shocked watchman said he has never seen what he saw that night as the young men and women “enjoyed” themselves.
Saying he could see clearly as there are security lights and it was a moonlit night, the guard said the youth who were dancing and cheering each other on as if its was a dancing competition, would leave the house in pairs and head for the fences where they did “dirty things”.
“If what I saw is what we are sending students to university to do then this country is in problems,” the watchman said.
