Being a mother is a wonderful and magical experience, or so I have heard.
There is also nothing wrong with the special relationship that mothers often have with their sons. There are many instances, however, where some have taken the whole mother-son relationship to a whole new level — of madness.
Some mothers think it’s acceptable to raise men who are totally and completely dependent on them. It’s shocking how such women stick to their sons like glue, and act like scorned ex-girlfriends when their sons get girlfriends.
Mummy’s boy
There is no better name for such women other than ‘mother-in-law from hell’. Such women refuse to get along with their son’s girlfriend or daughters-in-law, because, of course, no woman will ever be good enough for their sons except them, so they think! Mothers who will engage an innocent third party, whose only crime is loving their son, in an all-out war using all types of dirty tricks.
Some go as far as asking their pastors to pray against their son’s relationship. My unsolicited advice to all the ladies reading this is; when you see a mummy’s boy, run for your life!
I once dated a mummy’s boy back in my very naïve days. His mother kept giving me an evil eye, and worse, she could call on the day we had fights and narrated to me verbatim of the argument. She would proceed to castigate me for being the one on the wrong —always. That was when I got clarity, and realised mama’s boys cannot work for me.
Being with a mummy’s boy is like being in an unnatural threesome type of relationship, where the third party is always hovering around, and wants to be involved in everything. And irritatingly, wants to be the one to give the last word in every decision you make.
Relinquish
How many times have you heard stories of mothers-in-law, who completely refuse to relinquish control over their sons?
These are women who have refused to obey the laws of nature or have probably never read the verse in the good book that states that a man shall leave his mother and father to start a new life with his wife. The verse never says that a son TOGETHER WITH HIS MOTHER (notice the emphasis) will find a wife and start a new life together!
Depended
The result of this unnatural type of mother-son relationship is that you end up with half-backed men running around town totally dependent on their mothers.
Men who call their mothers more than they call their girlfriends or wives, are these very types that can’t tie their own shoelaces without seeking applause from their mothers. These are men who would not know what it means to be a man, if it hit them in the face!
I used to blame the mummy boys for their unhealthy dependency on their mothers’ approval, but I have come to realise it is the mothers who should know better.
And they are the villainous orchestrators of the very unhealthy relationship, which sets up their son to fail at any relationship they have with other women except them (their mothers).
The truth of the matter is that there can never be two dons who run one kingdom and two queens can never rule peacefully.
When a man decides to walk down the isle, he needs to focus more on his woman!
