MOYALE, KENYA: Police in Moyale seized fake currencies of four countries and bhang within Moyale town on Saturday evening.
The officers found batches of fake currencies of Sudan, South Sudan, U.S.A and Ethiopia in Mustafah Abdo alias Jamal, residence at about 5pm after they searched his house.
The counterfeit currencies are packed in two cartons while the bhang was wrapped with papers and stored in a vacant room within Jamal plot.
Confirming the incident Moyale Deputy OCPD Julius Muchira said police were tip off by members of public concerning the matter where they searched suspect house and found fake currencies, a weighing machine and bhang.

He further confirmed, during operation the officers’ nabbed fake currencies of 2500 of 20 notes and 3250 of 50 notes Sudan currency, 2200 of 50 notes and 1950 of 100 notes South Sudan currency, 83 of 100 notes US dollar and 228 of 50 notes and 3350 of 100 notes Ethiopian birr.
Muchira also added that one and half kilogram of cannabis sativa and a weighing machine was found in the same room. The suspected Jamal was arrested and will arraign in court on Monday.
However, area Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Sugut Arap Sugut who led operation thanked public for supporting police and well informant.
Addressing journalists after Jamal arrested, Sugut said in conjunction with local people police in the area have managed to apprehend 60 Aliens and took to court in a span of two months.
“We were positively supported by local community and in a span of two months; we managed to arraign 60 Aliens in court,” he said.
He pointed out that police officers have launched anti-drug and human trafficking operation in recent past to clean up the area.
He added his team had been tracking Jamal and his suppliers for long; fortunately they have trapped one suspect and will lead police with investigation.
The OCS warned individuals behind illegal businesses in the area saying their days were numbered since police will uncover them from their hiding.
