Global hospitality firm Swiss International has signed an agreement with Mlima Kenya Holiday Homes Ltd for the management of a Sh7 billion resort in Nyeri County.

Swiss International said it would jointly develop what would be a five-star leisure and conference facility with Mlima Kenya Holiday Homes. In a statement yesterday, the company said the signing of the management contract will give it exclusive branding and operator rights.

The firm now sets the stage for the construction of the $70million (Sh7billion) Swiss International Resort Mt Kenya. The project is slated for completion early 2018.

The firm recently signed a similar agreement contract for Swiss International Lenana Hotel in Nairobi. The Swiss International Resort Mount Kenya will be designed by globally renowned hospitality architect Mr John G. Henry and a team of select local architectural and project management specialists.

The development will feature a total of 236 villas, townhouses hotel rooms & suites and an Event and Conference Centre for 1,000 participants.

“In the coming years, we are confident that Swiss International Resort Mount Kenya will be acknowledged as a top destination and a platform for significant events in Kenya,” said Mlima Kenya Holiday Homes Ronald Ndegwa.

The Kenyan facility is the sixth development in Africa for Swiss International. The firm manages and operates hotels in Nigeria, Ghana and Sierra Leone.

It is in plans to start operations in Guinea Bissau as well as increase the facilities under its management in Kenya to include a hotel in Kisumu. It also has operations in Europe, Asia and Middle East.
