Two workers at Judge Abida Ali Aroni's Nairobi residence have denied stealing goods valued at Sh60,000 from her home.

Patrick Isavwa Ngongo and George Okwany Odhiambo appeared before Kibera Senior Principal Magistrate Jacqueline Kahuya on Friday.

They denied the charge.

According to the charge sheet, they allegedly stole a barbeque grill and nyama choma jiko between July 17 and November 2, at Justice Aroni's Hardy residence in Lang'ata.

The prosecution presented a police report stating that Isavwa and Okwany took the jikos during a party hosted by the judge.

Missing items

The prosecution stated that the judge only realised that the items were missing when she wanted to use them for another event a month later.

Upon discovering the theft, Justice Aroni filed a report at Hardy Police Station, leading to the arrest of the accused.

A police report stated that the judge's home has 24-hour security with Administration Police officers working in shifts.

Isavwa and Okwany had been employed as a caretaker and mason, respectively.

They were each released on a cash bail of Sh20,000.

The case will be mentioned tomorrow.
