It comes just a day after a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a young woman was stabbed to death in broad daylight in London.

Officers, paramedics and an air ambulance rushed to the scene of the stabbing on Caledonian Road, in the north of the capital, shortly before 10.30am on Saturday.

The victim's conditions remain unclear although it is understood her injuries are not life-threatening.

While on Monday three people were shot outside Kingsbury Tube station. The victims, two men and one woman, were found with gunshot wounds outside the station at around 9:45pm on Monday.

The shooting comes amid a violent crime epidemic in the capital, which recently saw London’s Metropolitan police launched its 100th murder investigation.

The capital's death toll hit 100 after a woman, 73, was found in a blazing house on August 22. Scotland Yard said she had been found with injuries "consistent with an assaullt."
