Jubilee Party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC) endorsed President Kenyatta to run for a second term on Saturday, May 6, at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.

Upon being endorsed by the party, President Kenyatta – who was presented with the nomination certificate by the party Secretary General, Raphael Tuju, proceeded to nominate his deputy, William Ruto, as his running mate in the August 8, 2017 General Election.

President Kenyatta is now set for a face off with the opposition presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, who was endorsed by his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on Friday, May 5 at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani in Nairobi.

Other parties that endorsed President Kenyatta in his bid include Maendeleo Chap Chap, Narc-Kenya, Kenya African National Union (KANU) and Economic Freedom Party.

Mendeleo Chap Chap party leader and Machakos Governor, Dr Alfred Mutua, said Kenyans are proud of what the Jubilee administration has achieved and hence the decision by his party to back President Kenyatta’s re-election.

“It is important for us that you leave behind a good legacy of changing lives and we will stand with you,” Mr Moi told President Kenyatta.

At all the conventions, the President urged supporters to preach peace and unity.

“Let us be people who preach peace even as we propagate our policies,” urged President Kenyatta.
