Pay-TV provider Dstv has slashed monthly subscription fees and added content to various packages to win the commitment of customers as competition intensifies.

Announcing the new prices that will take effect next month, MultiChoice East Africa Regional Director Stephen Isaboke said the move will ensure more customers come on board. “For new customers, the price reductions in both subscription prices and decoders will ensure that great family entertainment is available to everyone at the most affordable price,” said Isaboke.

In the new prices, customers on DStv premium and DStv compact plus will enjoy 13 per cent and 15 per cent drop in monthly subscription respectively. Those on DStv family have been given 12 per cent drop as those on Compact get five per cent.

At the same time, four new channels have been added on DStv premium as price drops from Sh9,400 to Sh8,180. With eleven new channels on DStv compact plus, Multichoice has dropped the price from Sh6,400 to Sh5,425.

Six new channels have been added on DStv compact and it will now retail at Sh3,550. DStv Family -- the cheapest bouquet for DStv -- will now be subscribed at Sh1,900 per month. In May, the firm slashed the price of its high-definition decoders by 48 per cent to Sh2,499 as competition to win customers heats up.
