United States embassy has warned American citizens to be cautious as the Supreme Court gets ready to rule on the presidential petition. This warning, though meant to caution US citizens, has the potential to spark tension among Kenyans.
Since we voted, we have lived in harmony and no cases of violence have been reported. It is wrong for the embassy to create unnecessary tension among Kenyans who have lived peacefully even after elections.
Kenyans have been preaching peace while awaiting the Supreme Court ruling. I have not witnessed any people threatening violence if the court rules against their expectations.
Let everybody know that we are advocating for peace and harmony among all communities.
Let’s ensure that we are not influenced by anything to cause violence. Let’s avoid what happened in 2007. We have not healed.
I believe we have learnt from what happened and we are ready to move forward for the good of our country.
Those talking about violence should start preaching peace. We have said that this country is greater than any individual. Let peace prevail.

The decision by United States to warn of possible chaos after the petition ruling is misguided. As Kenyans, we learnt our lesson during the 2008 post-election violence, which led to loss of many lives. It is unfortunate for anyone to think that Kenyans can go back to where we were five years back.
Kenyans have understood the importance of peace, love and unity. This was evident in just concluded elections.
Despite the fact that the tallying of the votes took a little bit longer, Kenyans remained calm until results were announced.
This showed that Kenya had changed and may never go back to the brink.
The international community should stop seeing Kenya as war zone and understand that Kenyans can solve their problems peacefully.

The United States has yet again warned its citizens over the situation in Kenya.
This will be a big blow to tourism, considering that the high season is just about to commence. Hopes of tourism industry players of cashing in on this season have now been dampened by the new developments.
The country’s economy will suffer a severe blow due to this present situation.
This so-called travel ban is in my opinion misguided and unnecessary. The likes of the US choose to turn a blind eye on numerous efforts being made to boost peace. The cloud of tension hovering over the country is undeniable, but this however doesn’t mean that violence would erupt after the ruling
Interestingly, the US has its own fair share of security issues, greater than Kenya’s in magnitude.
