Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi once again failed to name his professional players for the up-coming World Cup qualifier against Malawi.
Kimanzi instead said he will name the professional players on Thursday though other sources revealed that midfielder Patrick Oboya will be making a return to the team.
Oboya is among four professionals that Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has already sent tickets to. Others are Titus Mulama, who plays for Lupopo in the Democratic Republic of?Congo, Arnold Origi (Norway) and Patrick Osiako (Sweden).
The fate of top striker Dennis Oliech is still not known after he announced his retirement from the team four weeks ago.
FKF chairman Sam Nyamweya said: “Kenyans should not worry about Oliech. We are working on bringing him for the game.”
In a related development, Nyamweya announced that electronic tickets will be sold for the June 2 clash at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Ticket firm KAPS has been contracted to sell the 48,000 tickets on offer and will go for different prices.? The upper terrace will cost one Sh300 to sit with the middle terrace costing Sh1,000.
Ticket cost
The VIP will cost Sh2,000 while a new section VVIP will cost Sh3,000. Nyamweya said tickets would be sold in KAP’s outlets in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.
“It is a new era and the electronic ticketing will help us clamp down on ticket fraud.? I want to warn those who imagine they can use fake tickets that they will be arrested and stiff action taken against them,” he said.
He said various activities have been lined up on the day of the match to keep fans engaged before kick-off at 4pm.
He also assured that there will be enough security with 1,500 security men to be deployed on the day of the match.
“Our desire is to make the day of the match a family outing so that parents can easily turn up with their children and feel safe. In this regard, we want to assure everyone that security will be provided.
“Those with cars should not worry because there will be enough security personnel to take care of their vehicles during the match,” he said.
Kenya will have a busy month of?June during which they will play World Cup and Africa Cup of?Nations qualifiers.
Apart from playing Malawi, Stars will also take on Namibia in another World Cup qualifier and take on Togo in an Africa Cup of?Nations qualifier.
