Eleven people were killed in an accident involving a lorry and a matatu at Kariguini area along the Nairobi-Murang’a road on Thursday night.
The accident occurred at 9pm after the lorry, that was ferrying stones to Murang’a from Thika, lost control after hitting a pothole and rammed into the matatu.
Murang’a South OCPD Antony Onyango confirmed the incident and said the injured were rushed to Thika district hospital for treatment.
Locals differed with the police version saying the accident was caused by poor state of the road owing to emerging potholes.
