Sounding rather shocked after word went round that she had been arrested and locked up over Sh236,000 in unpaid hotel bills, Mombasa-based events organiser Queen Eve called Pulse to deny the rumours saying she was enjoying her freedom.
Grapevine had it that Eve, who had hosted the Mr and Miss Pwani beauty pageant at Sai Roc over the weekend, had been arrested after failing to pay costs she owed the hotel.
“I was hosting the event and the hotel had charged Sh75, 000 for the venue and Sh36,000 for food eaten by my models. That is not Sh236, 000. Besides the bill was to be paid by (Hezron) Awiti, the MP for Nyali Constituency, and not me,” she excused.
“That day, Awiti did not make it as he was meeting Raila, but he paid later. I was never locked up. That is not true,” she continued.
Claims had it that Eve was arrested and taken to Bamburi Police Station before getting to the notorious Shimo la Tewa.
“That is just malicious,” she concluded.
