Star Studded MSCK Awardz @ Carni-Voo

Social Scene

MCSK

Thaz what we usedta call it (the Carnivore).

N on Mashujaa Day (after of course going to Nyayo to hear the Kenyatta day speeches, heh heh), me n da Sharonova – looking stunning in a red dress – vroomed to Voo for the MCSK awards.

First ladette I find on the red carpet is the beautiful Avril in a shimmering silvery dress – n I grabbed the chance to literally sweep her off her feet, into the smitten arms.

We then went down to our table (#2/3) where our tres cool marketing tsarina Doreen Baya was @ in all her splendour (she even fundishad some clueless Carni steward, Franco, how to fungua a wine bottle).

Kweli ever since Ole Len Cook left the hotel industry, service training has really gone chini (just like national security).

We were joined at table by the Yolo crew, young Thierry with his Fellaini nywele who is waaayy cool, n Lola Hannigan, n her young lookin’ momski with tattoos (cougar-rrr!).

Tamima was doing a tam-tam job on stage as emcee with Kiss star Shaffie, old buddy (n Chelsea mate) as Jalas n Debbie Asila took care of bizna nje (Milan mkubwa?)

The show, show-casing the muzik industry from 1963 began, n veteran David Mureithi waz on his feet, grooving, alongside two of our very dapper SG direktors.

But for me, twas Rare Watts that got me giddy coz that Maa spin kumbushas me of the ‘Win A Car’ compe!

I bowed to Kuna Dawa queen Esther Wahome, hugged ole pal Mercy Myra, n once more marveled at how model-like MM remains.

Then twas tyme to give luv to my mboyz – Pips Owuor, as dope as ever, Leakey Odera with his Lenin beard (hmm, thaz an idea) n Octopizzo, back at our meza.

Abbas sio-kubaff tole me he has a new ‘mezesha’ muzik-pizzle, n flattered the Smitts by semaing I am the ‘mwenda’ to review it.

I’m just happy ‘Baby Gangsta’ days are now a distant meme in his life; that his mzungu fiancée n him are gonna get a toi.

Talking couples, I finally got to meet Rabbo (Angie Ndambuki) with her hubby, n they just looked happy. Rabbo was my good buddy in college, but twas always Shinde I had the crush on (heh heh, is it really gone)?

Well, every B ‘celeb’ needs an A-celeb crush!

There are peeps to be smitten with, n peeps to smite n waz grateful to my dear kuz lawyer Cliff Ombeta for his offer to ‘goitha’ my foes – (altho I do have the brilliant Gillian @ Sichangi Advos on da case. N The Mills on stand-by).

Then there was Pulse ed Stevosky who made us proud with an entertainment industry award (alongside the indefatigueable Grayce Erongori) – altho my dear bro din’t beba me specs (so even seeing him get the award was blurry, lol) n I think real Solo has decided to flee with both my cheap Samsung n five thao (he lost betting on Goon Squad against the mighty Chelski Club).

Twas also pretty neat to re-meet Geoff Korio, ole amigo.

Jua Cali, sitting with his back to the sun at the back, cracked up as we re-called how he hadta disown the Smitta at Lagos airport years ago after airplane-altercations.

I almost angukad going over outside to salimia Suzanne Gachukia, ever young, n whose performance on stage earlier, I’d luved.

Met Habib on da grass with Ka-Monski n got a lil nostalgic. I bet E-Sir, had he lived, would have been pocketing meters from MCSK.

But then Nameless got me in stitches for da second tyme dat day. ‘Smitta, dyu remember that tyme on a flight from TZ I hadta stop Profesa Jay from fixing ya coz yu kept saying stuff like ‘TZedians are so slow you can’t tell them what’s on yur mind; you have to tell them like what’s the fourth thing on yur mind,’ lol.”

Watt can I say? 2008 was a wild year – n we waz on Obama opium euphoria hysteria.
