My husband’s illicit love affair with his boss ruined us- Woman finds naked pictures in hubby’s phone

She claims she found naked pictures in hubby’s phone

A woman in Kisii County is accusing a micro-finance institution boss of having an illicit affair with her husband and wrecking their marriage.

Jackline Kerubo claims the CEO of Wakenya Pamoja Micro-finance, Isabela Masinde (pictured), of complicating her life after her husband, George, sold the family car and left their matrimonial home a year after the affair was discovered.

Kerubo now laments that she has been left to fend for their three children alone.

Kerubo got married to George in early 2000 when both were employees of Wakenya Pamoja which is headquartered in Kisii County.

Isabela later joined as a management trainee in 2011 when Kerubo had been promoted from a junior clerk to supervisor.

“When she came in, I was an established employee and even helped in her orientation and assisted her to get a house in my neighbourhood in Suneka,” said Kerubo, adding that being a ‘good’ neighbour, she didn’t mind Isabela being offered a lift to work by her husband.

However in 2014, Kerubo started suspecting her husband and the boss.

“Around July 2014, I lost my mother-in-law, and after the burial, I got information from other quarters that a female friend of my husband attended the burial and was introduced herself as a close friend. This raised suspicions.”

A few weeks later, she says, Isabela started making enquiries about her (Kerubo’s) family, even asking her what she would do if she discovered that her husband was dating a married woman.

“The questions made me uncomfortable, but I thought it was just girl-talk, until I got the shock of my life. My husband stopped taking my children out as was the case, and instead, was taking Isabela’s children out,” claims Kerubo, adding that her fears were confirmed when she discovered nude pictures of Isabela on her husband’s phone.

The pictures, allegedly taken in a lodging at Rongo town on January 9, 2016, a day the two were spotted in the town, showed Isabela smiling at the camera, nude.

Kerubo adds that she saw the pictures after her husband left her with his old phone when he bought a new one.

“I was confused. Totally confused. I called my husband who was headed to our rural home in Nyamira, and told him to come back to the house immediately,” she said.

The husband first appeared rude, but later tried to apologise, even as he denied anything ever happened between the two.

Word spread in the area like bushfire and reached Isabela’s husband who works with an airline company in Mombasa. That was in February last year when Kerubo’s husband disappeared only to return in December, empty-handed.

Kerubo said he could not explain the whereabouts of his car and other assets. Matters were further complicated when Isabela rose from her previous position of credit manager to the CEO.

Kerubo’s tribulations began with a demotion to assistant Micro-finance manager at the headquarters to a junior micro-finance officer based at Nyabigege, an outpost market centre at the border of Kisii and Migori counties.

Communication between the firm’s management and Kerubo exposed a string of intimidation, which include forced leave, suspensions, demotions and even being forced to swear an affidavit that she would never pursue the matter as it would ‘taint the image of the company’.

She said her efforts to have the management handle the matter amicably have borne no fruits, as Isabela has instead been promoted while she has been demoted.

When The Nairobian sought her comment on the matter, Isabela declined to respond to texts, and disconnected our calls.

The firm’s human resource manager, Fred Miruka, however, heaped blames on Kerubo, claiming that she had failed to abide by company procedures in handling the matter.

“The board handled the matter and could not prove the claims, but the complainant is not satisfied and has continued to pursue the matter through unnecessary media. She has the freedom to report the matter to relevant authorities to carry out investigations,” he said.

“We did not demote her. We only transferred her since the issue had affected her performance and she could not see eye to eye with the person she was accusing,” he added.
