A 27-year-old man has been accused of snatching Sh500,000 from his employer.
Martin Ashisoma Tom admitted to the court that he committed the offence on April 13. Tom narrated to the court how he made away with the money being the property of General Industries in Nairobi.
He told the court that he took the drastic action after his supervisor slapped him in the face with the cash.
The court heard that Tom grabbed the money from the complainant who is the company’s supervisor before taking off.
He was arrested on April 20 in his Vihiga home. In his plea, Tom said: “It is true that I snatched the money. I had problems which I shared with my supervisor, who instead of helping me, chose to mock me.”
Sh200,000 has since been recovered. Tom claimed that an investigating officer kept the rest of the money. The court to summoned the officer pending the sentencing of the accused.
