Largely viewed as opponents supporting different political groups in the country, former Youth Fund boss Gor Semelang’o and Dennis Itumbi, who is the director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President, were put on the spot at Carnivore Simba Saloon on Friday night as the annual Mr and Miss Zetech University event took place.
As the two were forced to share a table at the VIP section where Zetech University Vice-Chancellor Edwin Wamukoya was seated, the emcees of the day — comedians Sleepy and Owago — urged them to each show their ‘political strength’ by giving handouts to their fans.
And for every Sh1,000 Dennis Itumbi produced, Gor Semelang’o gave Sh3,000. The game over, the two laughed and shook hands as fans cheered.
The colourful event, a fusion of beauty and creative talent, lived up to its billing with contestants giving it their all. Maureen Nyawira, 22 and James Mwangi, 19, were crowned the night’s winners.
The ceremony was graced by top celebrities among them Groove award-winning group Kelele Takatifu, Femi One, Avril, Rabbit and Kristoff.
