Hottest matatu in Nairobi- Buruburu's Brain Freeze is the real deal

Back in the day, Buru Buru mathrees were a hot number! Yaani, everyone wanted a ride on them. They defined what sexy was all about.  Their shouting colours, handsome conductors and loud music was an instant attraction.

But other estates discovered this trick and slowly, Buru ratings went down. However, their latest entry, Brain Freeze, is changing the narrative.

With screaming words “Chill to thrill” scrawled at the back, this mathree is just the bomb!

Instead of the normal graffiti, its exterior is pure art with colours resembling cloudy skies.

Speaking to Ma3 Culture, Brain Freeze crew Calvin Aroko said: “We took time before we hit the road since most of the materials we used were imported,” he said.

Aroko noted that they had spent a lot of money to pimp up the car.

“Even the sound system comprising of four woofers, costs around Sh70,000 since they are original. Our rims each goes for over Sh50,000,” he said.

Brian Ouma another crew explains “the demand by customers for sexier mathrees inspired us to do research and finally change the look from Mkate to Nganya”.

While other mathrees have stuck to flask disk to play music and videos, Brain Freeze is the first to introduce ipod and a convertible screen for passengers seated in front.

It has 42-inch LED screen behind the driver’s seat, a 32-inch TV at emergency exit and other four 17-inch on the sides.

“We have learnt how to treat passengers including the kind of music they want.”
