Jokes aside, Kayole now has a Chevrolet ‘nganya’

When photos of Chevy, a brand new mathree operating plying the city centre-Kayole route were shared on Matatu Culture (not linked to The Nairobian’s Ma3 Culture), the page was flooded with all sorts of comments.

As usual, Nairobians came up with different memes on social media.

One that really caught my eyes was of President Uhuru in a camouflage military saluting the nganya.

Chevy is registered to Prime Trans-City Sacco and has restored Kayole’s lost glory.

Named after the American car brand, Chevrolet, it is all the rave.

While many argue that Chevy is not as earth-shaking as it is made out to be, the 46-seater nonetheless sports attractive features that has already made it the star of the route.

Apart from cosy seats with the ‘Chevy’ brand, its floor is made of thick glass with snake lights in different colours.

Eric Momanyi, a crew said; “Despite some of our competitors claiming we are wannabes, we are the talk of town.”

He added that, “Kayole was famous for pickpockets in matatus. To address this, we have installed CCTV cameras.”

Cyrus Wambugu, Chevy’s manager, said that, “The look of this mathree is different. It has features that are of a higher quality than competition’s. The sound system, graffiti and body work is unmatched.”

This mathree also has six screens at the rear, four woofers and 12- mid range speakers.
