Pulse writer, Tony Mochama alias Smitta was awarded the Best Theatre, Art and Culture writer at the second Sanaa Theatre Awards held at Alliance Française in Nairobi's CBD. Pulse Magazine on the other hand, won the award for Best Art and Culture Magazine.
The Sanaa Theatre Awards is an initiative of Tone Communications based at the Kenya Cultural Centre in Nairobi. Last year Tone Communications, an experiential multimedia solutions organisation held the first ever theatre awards in Kenya since the defunct Mbalamwezi Theatre Awards in 2004.
The objective of the awards is to recognise award excellence in the field of theatre in 40 different categories including theatre performed by youth in and out of school, as well as to motivate youth in realising their full potential and talent.
