Baby-faced pop star Justin Bieber was the world's highest-paid celebrity under the age of 30 last year, according to a top US business magazine.

The 20-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter topped the list of fabulously well-paid young celebrities in 2013 beating pop rivals Rihanna and Lady Gaga.

The musician earned a staggering $75m (£48m) in 2013 alone, largely on the back of his sell-out 'Believe' world-tour the previous year, according to Forbes magazine.

Bieber has made a vast fortune thanks to the sales of his award-winning albums and singles.

He is known to have invested millions of pounds in high-tech startup companies.

Britain's home-grown boy band One Direction, average age 21, were the second highest-earning young celebrities last year, say Forbes.

Band members, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, earned $75m (£48) between them due to their recent world chart success.

Their latest album, 'Midnight Memories,' debuted at No 1 in the US billboard charts and scored a multi-platinum hit with the single 'Story of My Life."

The band was formed in 2010 after its members separately auditioned for the X-Factor talent show. Country and western singer Taylor Swift, aged 24, was the highest earning young female celebrity last year bringing home a stunning $64m (£41m).

The song-writer's fifth album, 1989, was released earlier this year and sold more copies in its opening week in the US than any album in the previous twelve years, and made Swift the first and only act to have three albums sell more than one million copies in a week.

The only non-musician to break into the top highest earning young celebs was Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence who earned $34 (£27m) last year, largely on the back of the hugely successful 'Hunger Games' series.

Lady Gaga slipped to eighth position this year having topped the list in 2011 after earning a monstrous $90m (£57m) the previous year.

Swedish DJ Avicii made it to ninth position on the back of debut album 'True' and US DJ and music producer Skrillex made tenth position.
