Gambia President Barrow hails Kenya for democracy and peacekeeping efforts

The Gambia President Adama Barrow has commended Kenya for its democratic governance and peacekeeping efforts as the nation celebrates 61 years of independence.

Speaking at Uhuru Gardens during Jamhuri Day celebrations, Barrow said Kenya's diplomatic achievements have earned it a respected global reputation.

"Since attaining independence, Kenya has taken giant steps in promoting peace and security in the region. The strides you have made in addressing climate change, trade, peace, security, and development have set a precedent for emulation," said Barrow.

He also praised Kenya's leadership in the peacekeeping mission in Haiti.

"The peacekeeping mission in Haiti and the fight against terrorism are a testament to the nation's commitment to peace and security," he added.

Barrow highlighted Kenya's recognition not only for its democratic governance but also for its efforts to combat climate change and promote regional integration across Africa.

The Gambian president also acknowledged the East Africa's nation rich cultural diversity and traditions, noting their contribution to African heritage.

He expressed Gambia's interest in strengthening bilateral relations with Kenya.

President Barrow was among the dignitaries who attended the 61st Jamhuri Day celebrations in Nairobi.
