Cleric eulogises Journalist Shadrack Mitty as devout Christian

Tributes continue to pour in for fallen Standard Media Group journalist Shadrack Mitty as family, friends, and colleagues prepare to lay him to rest.

Apostle Peter Manyuru of Jesus Teaching Ministry, where Mitty was an ardent worshipper, described him as his spiritual son who supported the ministry.

Manyuru eulogised the journalist as a devout Christian who committed his time to serving God.

"Our departed brother has been fellowshipping with us. From all the time I have known him, he was a very devoted and committed Christian. He has been taking responsibility of serving God in church through evangelism and supporting the ministry in whatever God had given him as a full believer," he said.

The cleric condoled with the late Mitty's family and pledged the church's support in burial plans.

He was speaking during a fund drive at the church in aid of the late journalist's burial preparations.

"I send my condolences to those who were affected by the demise of our brother. On behalf of the church, we shall stand with the family and join the Standard Group fraternity in this trying moment to help lay our brother to rest," said the apostle.

"As Christians, death is just one thing, but what is important is the salvation that God has given us, which makes us not to die. We only transition to a better life in heaven," he added.

Mitty who was a Senior Education reporter at KTN News died on May 28, 2024 while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH), Nairobi.

"On behalf of the church, I want to say, may God rest his soul in eternal peace, till we meet again. This is a journey for all of us, and we shall meet him. It's not that he has gone early, but we shall meet him. I pray that God strengthens the entire family and all their friends," said Manyuru.

The organising committee has also scheduled another fundraiser Monday, June 10, 2024 at All Saints Cathedral from 5pm to 8pm.

A requiem will be held on Thursday at KUTRRH Funeral Home Chapel from 12 noon to 2pm, thereafter the body will be transported to Lugari.

The funeral service will be on June 15, 2024 at Baharini Primary School in Maturu, Lugari, Kakamega county. The body will interred at his home in Shandiche village in Maturu.
