Mombasa, Garissa counties get new police commanders

Kenya: New County police Commanders have been posted to Mombasa and Garissa to help in managing insecurity incidents that are fluctuating in the areas.

The new Mombasa County commander is Paterson Maelo while the new the one for Garissa is Manase Musyoka and Rop Kipkemboi takes over in Taita Taveta. Julius Wanjohi remains as the Coast regional police boss.

The new Kajiado County boss is Tom Odera while Mary Omari goes to Tharaka Nithi and Buruburu Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Richard Kerich becomes the new Nairobi County deputy commander.

Others named in the changes include Mohamed Hapi (deputy director reforms), Julius Kitili (director reforms), Andrew Aramisi (Nyanza traffic boss), Joseph Muthee (Rift Valley traffic boss), Tom Atuti (Kiambu OCPD), Stephen Cheteka (Changamwe OCPD), Joshua Omukata (Nakuru OCPD), Hussein Arur (Kirinyaga East OCPD and Justus Kitetu (Kericho OCPD).

Former police spokeswoman Zipporah Mboroki is the OCPD Lari while Geoffrey Maiyek takes over as Buruburu OCPD. The new changes were announced amid complaints from officers from all ranks of their delayed promotions.

New divisions have been opened in Kiambu County which has been facing increased cases of insecurity. The divisions’ commanders are Joseph Onyango (Kabete), Patricia Nasio (Juja) and Wilberfoce Netondo (Kiambaa).

The other OCPDs named include Aron Moriasi (Samia), Fredrick Shiundu (Lagdera), Musembi Kaloki (Siaya), Joel Kiptum (North Hor), Moss Mrefu (Loitoktok), Ann Muli (Kakamega North), Silas Sato (Katulani), Philip Ngunjiri (Masaba North), Alexander Shikondi (Tabaj) while Alfred Mukoma, Joshua Koech and Damaris Kinanu were posted to operations directorate at police headquarters.

The new deputy OCPDs include Mary Nyambura (Malindi), Robert Makau (Bondo), Davis Naibei (Vihiga), Patrick Manyasi (Kilifi), Kinyua Mugambi (Nyandarua North), Gladys Ayuma (Njoro) and Terry Muchemi was moved to the child protection unit at police headquarters.
