National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has cautioned Members of Parliament against making careless utterances, saying this erodes their credibility.

He said misconduct by some elected MPs through reckless statements at public rallies reflects negatively on the entire House.

Mr Muturi, who was accompanied by some Jubilee MPs during a fundraiser in Njoro, Nakuru County, described as shocking remarks by some Opposition leaders during last week's rally at Uhuru Park.

"As leaders we must watch our utterances. Even children who were watching must have been disgusted by words coming out from some of the leaders," the Speaker said.

He urged leaders to carry themselves with decorum and not be carried away by bitterness for them to be respected by the public.

MPs Samuel Gichigi(Kipipiri), Joseph Kiuna (Njoro) David Gikaria (Nakuru Town East), Nelson Gaichuhie (Subukia) and Nderitu Mathenge issued an ultimatum to police and the Director of Public Prosecutions to arrest and charge Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama.

Mr Gichigi said Jubilee MPs would initiate the process of disbanding some institutions if no action is taken against Mr Muthama for disrespecting the President and women.

"The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Director of Public Prosecution and the police should in one week take action against those who made reckless statements and if they don't act we will look at their relevance and disband them," Gichigi said.

The MPs said they would not allow Muthama to continue besmirching the President at public rallies.

"The insults hurled during the CORD rally will not be entertained and they should know we are not going to watch as they continue to hurl abuse at the President," Gikaria said.
