Nigeria's Buhari vows intensified campaign against Boko Haram

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari in his inaugural address on Friday vowed to wage an intensified military campaign against Boko Haram, describing the Islamists as "mindless" and "godless".

"Boko Haram is a mindless, godless group, who are as far away from Islam as one can think," said Buhari, an observant Muslim, after taking the oath of office in the capital Abuja.

He said he would set up a new military command centre in the northeast city Maiduguri, a Boko Haram stronghold, claiming "victory cannot be achieved from a command and control centre in Abuja".
