Leaders await Kalonzo Musyoka’s ‘big announcement’

Kenya; Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will Saturday address Ukambani regional leaders’ consultative meeting where he is expected to make a big announcement regarding his political career.

Kalonzo will use the opportunity to declare his political aspirations ahead of the 2017 General Elections and rally the leaders on a unity pact.

Those invited to the meeting to be held at his Yatta home in Yatta constituency, Machakos County include the three regional governors Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Julius Malombe (Kitui), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), senators Johnston Muthama, David Musila, Mutula Kilonzo Junior, women representatives, members of parliament and county assembly among others.

The moderator of the meeting will be the Africa Brotherhood Church’s Archbishop Timothy Ndambuki.Efforts to reach one of the meeting’s organisers, Kitui East MP Major (Rtd) Mutua Muluvi were fruitless.

“I’m in a meeting,” he replied in a text message when The Standard on Standard tried to call him.

But an ally of the former Vice President who requested anonymity said the meeting will be inclusive where Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) affiliate parties of ODM, Wiper and Ford Kenya will be fully represented.

“The theme of the forum will to consolidate the region’s unity, assemble the leaders to work as a team and respect one another. It will also seek to formulate a social, economic and political agenda for residents in the lower eastern region and beyond,” the source said.

In November last year, Kalonzo while attending a fundraiser for Kithyoko Africa Inland Church in Machakos County, said he will be making a big political statement early this year ahead of the 2017 General Elections.
