Talk to each other, MP tells Uhuru, Raila

President Uhuru Kenyatta and CORD leader Raila Odinga have been urged to compromise and spare the country the long route of a national referendum.

Nyatike MP Omondi Anyanga said political interests should not overshadow matters dear to Kenyans adding the country's interest supersedes that of CORD and Jubilee coalitions.

"Whenever there is a crisis, leaders should sit down and talk to each other rather than chest thump on issues that are dear to the hearts of Kenyans," he said, noting that the plebiscite could divide Kenyans.

He said Jubilee leaders should not construe dialogue with CORD to mean political weakness and the Opposition should also not seek to score political goals with the referendum agenda.

Anyanga blamed the ongoing standoff on sycophancy, saying some leaders loyal to President Uhuru Kenyatta on one hand and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on the other were politicising the matter.
