Her perfect combination of beauty and brains is the reason she scooped a spot in the top ten positions in the Miss World competition. While she did not win the coveted Miss World title, Idah Nguma has represented Kenya on many fronts.
Born and raised in Machakos, Idah grew up with 5 sisters and one brother. Her sisters often referred to her as a beauty queen due to her graceful demeanor.
It encouraged her to try out different pageants in the quest to flaunt and capitalize on her beauty, leading to her win in the Miss Machakos girls during her high school days.
After trying out many pageants, winning and losing some, the Machakos County called her up to take part in the Miss Kenya 2014 auditions. Despite a busy schedule at Kenyatta University where she was in her 3rd year, Idah took a study leave and delved into the Miss World Kenya, competition.
It was here that she got to meet many other beauties across the world and opened her up to the different cultures.
All through the competition, Idah stayed at her best but as she once admitted, she never quite thought that she would win. In her mind she had her list of winners excluding herself, so when the judges announced her winner, she was overwhelmed.
Since becoming Miss Kenya 2014, Idah has travelled the world and championed the Cleft Lip Campaign which was part of her “beauty with a purpose campaign”.
At the same time, she mentors young girls who hope look up to her.
Her beauty, brains and effortless glamour is the reason she is our WCW today.
