New York half marathon: Mo Farah collapses on finish line

Mo Farah collapsed shortly after finishing second in the New York City half-marathon today.

The double Olympic champion was pictured lying on the ground in the finishing area after the race, before being taken away in a wheelchair.

He recovered quickly enough to take part in the post-race press conference, telling reporters: "I feel good. I just tried so hard in the race. It's not a big deal.

"When I fell, I fell pretty hard. I told myself 'don't rush' but when I saw the gap, the gap was big."

Farah had earlier fallen approaching halfway but recovered to finish second behind Kenya's Geoffrey Mutai.

He had been in the leading pack of eight athletes when he was sent crashing to the ground after seemingly being accidentally tripped from behind.
