Palaver

Buzz around town now is Allan Root’s dalliance with good living, summed up in chopper flights for his two kids from Isiolo to Banda School in Nairobi. Not just that, his wife occasionally remains behind to take care of the family’s two puppies.

Nothing wrong there, it is his sweat, even the fact that he has another home in Nairobi. But why would he be allowed on Kenyan airspace with a chopper bearing similar camouflage colours like those of our military? It just must be true that some animals are more equal than others

……………………..

As PP Pwai wa Githenji used to ask; dunia umepazuka wapi? (Where has the world cracked?) Even if they are two rotten potatoes in a sack, we must be afraid at what is happening in the church.

In Kitui a Catholic priest is jailed for defiling a schoolgirl whom he later took to school where the Father presented himself to be her ‘father’ (pun intended). Then in neighbouring Makueni Catholic Father or is jailed for shooting at fellow priest. Then across in Uganda an HIV-positive priest is in court over defilement of two girls. God the (real) Father, seems we need your fatherly love and protection here and now!

The tinkle in political circles has it that the lobbying for Internal security top posts rendered vacant by the deaths of Prof George Saitoti and Joshua Ojode is getting intense. Do not mind that some of those angling for the posts were ‘mourning’ their tragic deaths.

But asked why these particular posts, one told his friends point blank; War in Somalia, MRC threat in Mombasa, and the new big budget given the military. For a reason he believes in such situations auditors see no problem with fake receipts.

And Finally...

Ministers often have interesting ways of communicating with each other. At the funeral service for the four police officers killed during June 10 chopper crash, Heritage minister William Ole Ntimama confessed that wherever he had an urgent matter to talk over with late George Saitoti, he would call his bodyguard, Joshua Tonkei, who unfortunately died with his boss.

According to Bill, once he had spoken to Tonkei, Saitoti would effect what he had requested speedily. This was surely one case of a man who was more than a human shield for his boss.
