A 44-year-old man was forcefully circumcised in front of his wife and children after dodging the knife for several years in Bungoma County.

Peter Onyango, a resident of Lukhome in Kiminini sub-county was taken to the river Saturday morning by an irate mob, where he was smeared with mud before being paraded for the cut.

His wife, Janet Musenya, said for the eight years since they got married, her husband had been dodging the cut, compelling her to arrange for his cut.

"I realised that he was afraid of the pain but I could not withstand living with him. I am happy that he is now a complete man," she said.

She pledged to take up all the responsibilities of nursing her husband until he recovers.

A neighbour, Amos Sikuku said that the couple had picked up a quarrel and out of anger, the wife disclosed the matter that had been a secret for a long.

But Onyango expressed relief after the cut, saying he had been mocked for being 'uncut'.

"I call upon well-wishers to support my family with food for the time that I will still be nursing the wound since I cannot undertake any meaningful work," said the father of three.
