MP wants fresh vetting of judges following bribery allegation on Judge Philip Tunoi

Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa

Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa has called for a radical surgery in the Judiciary. He wants the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to weed out all corrupt judicial officials. Speaking on Friday during a thanksgiving ceremony for Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula in Kanduyi, Dr Wamalwa called for fresh vetting of judges and magistrates.

“Let JSC crack the whip. We need the Judiciary to be led by people of high integrity and whose rulings are not influenced by money. We don’t want corrupt officials running our courts,” he said. The MP spoke in the wake of allegations against Supreme Court Judge Philip Tunoi, who allegedly received Sh200 million from Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to influence an election petition. Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has formed a committee to probe the allegations.
