President uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday 13th September during the strategy launch of reorganizing the national police service unveiled what will be the new police uniform.

“The police will have a new uniform for general duty officers to improve their visibility,” said president Uhuru. 


Speaking during the launch, The President also unveiled major changes in the police, including new command structure, rebranding and housing allowances.


President Kenyatta said that the move is designed at removing waste and overlap of duties.


The 39,680 Kenya Police Service and 24,572 Administration Police will now form a single force totaling 64,252 officers under the command of Deputy IG- Kenya Police Service. 


Uhuru also announced the merging of Kenya police service and the administration police to form the general duty police unit.


Kenyans on social media however, disputed the new uniform terming them as “ugly”.
