Sonko denies hiring goons to disrupt meeting

Nairobi governor Mike Sonko dismissed claims that he hired goons to disrupt a meeting called by the chair of Nairobi Central Business District Association (NCBDA) Timothy Murikuki to address the city’s issues.

So said that he was is agreement with Mr. Muriuki’s statement.

“He is a very good friend of mine, he always supports me, na urongo ni mfupi sana,itajulikana. Hii perception kitu inafanywa, immediately the story inaenda kila mahali on social media, then the perception is Sonko is bad, Sonko is a thug, Sonko is a goon. This is something that has been created and fabricated,” said Sonko.

The meeting which was to take place at the Boulevard Hotel, Nairobi on Monday 30 April was cut short just after Mr. Murikui had started reading the press statement.

The goons were heard saying that association wanted to taint Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's name.

Sonko later added that the police should investigate what took place and the catch the people behind it.

“I am just appealing to the police, let them investigate this case, the goons were seen,” Sonko added.

The police said that they had already launched investigations.
