In the near future, our children will have no role models to look up to. Everyday we come across news on social ills committed by people, including parents and leaders. Three thirds of the news on TV is bad news; on corruption, murder and betting, and it is increasingly becoming impossible to get someone you can comfortably tell your child to emulate.
People are engaging in all sorts of evil in their quest to get rich quickly. Our society is rotting fast. Even worse is that the President himself has surrendered the war against corruption. So who do we run to?
We are looking for the day Kenya will get true leaders, people who have the best interests of the masses at heart, and not mere self seekers. The country is looking for people who can inspire hope in the youth by teaching them hard work, not shortcuts to billionaires’ club. Leaders must aspire to leave the country better than they found it, not ripping it off.
