The University of Nairobi (UoN) has yet again been rated among the top institutions of higher learning in Africa.
The Times Higher Education ranking of best universities in Africa 2016 placed the premier learning institution in the country at position eight in the continent.
UoN was ranked three positions behind Uganda's Makerere University, which was rated number five among the best 15 universities in Africa in the survey published on Friday. The two higher learning institutions were the only ones from the East Africa region that made it to the top 10.
For an institution that has been ranked among the best in the globe for providing world-class education, the latest good showing in Africa will definitely embolden the university's administration and community.
A Webometrics global universities ranking in February positioned it at number one in the country and East Africa region and sixth in the continent.
Another survey in March, The QS World University Rankings, put UoN among the top 100 universities that provide world-class education in one or more subjects.
Universities from South Africa, as has been the norm, performed exceptionally well, with the University of Cape town taking the lead. Five other universities from the country made it to the top 15 list.
