The odds in
life are things that seem impossible to be attained by one simply from the look
by the eye. One may have many things that they want to pursue. I believe right
from the village setting, children and the younger men are told that to make it
in life, you have to be successful. This is especially after completing the
ordinary level studies. They are then told that they have to enroll in the
tertiary institutions. This may not be a reality to others due to many reasons
such as failure in the final exams or lack of money due to economic
constraints. It is an embarrassment to some of them. But then, you have to beat
the odds! The following are some of the things to be considered:
1. Accept
the situation itself. This is based on our inner being. You have to see the
problem as a stepping stone to your tomorrow's success. Accept that things have
not gone as expected.
2. Think
'outside the box.' This means that you have to formulate plans to get where you
wanted. You can get to the appropriate people who are willing and ready to help
in guiding or financial assistance.
3. Pray to
the Almighty God. Ask God to intervene and provide help in your undertakings.
God is the worker of miracles and guides in times of need.
4. Be hopeful
and determined in life. This is what makes one try the 'impossible' in life.
People might think that you are not going to make it in life, but if you
embrace hope and determination despite the situation at hand, you will surely
have what you desire.
5. Refrain
from dream killers. These are people who are there to tell you that you won't
make it. They do not see any good that comes from you.
6. You have
the potential. Always see yourself as a doer of great things in life, believing
that you were created for a purpose that you must attain in life. Therefore,
you are the head and not the tail in your lifetime.
7. Learn
from successful people in life. Everyone must have that person in life that
they admire to be like them. Always get to know how they reached where they are
now and be encouraged that you can still be like them. You can learn from their
actions based on the good side of them.
8. Get a
mentor. This is someone who guides you on what you are supposed to do to
achieve in life. They coach you in the right way possible.
9. Have
SMART goals. This are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and
time-bound goals.
10. Do not
believe in failure. Remember that failure is just a mindset that makes you
avoid trying.
