COVID-19 cases in Kenya surpass 900

The number of COVID-19 cases in Kenya has surpasses 900 after 25 more people tested positive for the disease.

Speaking during a briefing at Afya House on Monday, Health CAS Rashid Aman stated that the number rose to 912 after testing 1,139 samples. This brings the total number of samples tested to 44,851.

The CAS also announced that 22 more people had fully recovered from the disease bringing the total number of recoveries to 336.

53 truck drivers also tested positive for coronavirus at the various entries of the Kenya-Tanzania border and were all referred back to Tanzania. 51 of them were from Tanzania while the other two from Burundi.

The cases were distributed in Mombasa, Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu Taita Taveta, Kwale and Meru recording its first case in the county.

CAS Rashid urged Kenyans to continue following the directives put up by the government adding that the measures are not meant to punish anyone.

"We understand that some people find the measures we have put in place uncomfortable. The measures have not been put to punish anyone. I appeal to Kenyans to continue observing them and to support and cooperate with the government," said CAS Rashid.

The number of deaths in the country still stands at 50.
