A two-day
old baby starved to death after the mother abandoned her between dates March 8
to 13.
The
31-year-old mother, Anne Maina, was charged infanticide after leaving
the baby to die and later dumping the body in a dustbin.
According to Nairobi News, Anne, who is said to have left her baby for two days, wrapped the baby with papers before dumping the body.
The dead
infant was found by the estate’s garbage collectors who took the infant’s body
to Anne’s house and alerted the neighbours of their findings.
Appearing
before senior resident magistrate Jackie Kibosia of the Makadara law
courts of Friday, Anne denied the charges and was freed on a Sh100,000 bond.
The woman is said to have two other younger children aged
four and two who live with her mother in Nanyuki.
The case hearing was set for August 2020.
