Uhuru announces partial lockdown, says coronavirus does not care about the size of your wallet

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday April 6, announced that the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the country have risen to 158.

The head of state urged Kenyans to observe the guidelines provided by the government to avoid further spread of the pandemic adding that anyone, despite tribe, religion or size of wallet, can contract the disease.

“This coronavirus does not care about religion, tribe or size of your wallet. Defeating it will require us to put aside our differences and stand together. Make no mistake, we are at war and we must be together to win this war,” said Uhuru.

Uhuru also said that he would go to any lengths to respond to the pandemic adding that stiffer measures would be enforced to contain the coronavirus.

During his speech, President Uhuru announced a partial lockdown in the counties which have the majority of coronavirus cases.

"There shall be the cessation of all movement by road, rail or air and all travel in and out of Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi and Kwale counties for a period of 21 days.”

“Movement of food and cargo will continue as normal throughout the containment period by road, rail or air,” added Uhuru.
